The Perfect Cosy Night In! | AD

Ahh January. The month always starts off so promising with my favourite time of the year, New Year. A time of new beginnings, turning over a fresh leaf, and full of hopes for the future. And yet, January itself is one of the darkest and most depressing months for me. It’s cold, it’s dull and grey, and there’s a certain ‘slump’ that no one can seem to get out of. It is, however, the perfect time to practice some serious self care, indulge a little bit, and just relax. Most people have spent nearly every week in December heading ‘out out’ for drinks, parties, and numerous events and thus we’re left completely exhausted and, let’s be honest, a little bit broke. Having a night in is incredibly cheap, and leaves you feeling refreshed and ready for the week ahead. My perfect night in usually happens on a Saturday or Sunday night, to really energise myself for the week ahead. So here is my guide to the perfect cosy night in!

This post has been kindly sponsored by Panasonic, who have just launched their new Oled 4K TV Panasonic Television. These incredibly high definition televisions have a beautiful sleek design, and look like something straight out of my Pinterest dream home board! You can find out more about them here!

Movies / Tv Shows

The first step is of course to decide on your entertainment. I either like to set up a few of my favourite movies, or else watch a few episodes of a tv series I’m loving at the moment. Here are some of the ones I’m loving right now!

TV Shows

  • Gilmore Girls
  • Sherlock
  • Once Upon A Time
  • Gossip Girl
  • The Crown
  • The Good Witch

  • Harry Potter series
  • Pride and Prejudice
  • ANYTHING Disney!
  • Jumanji
  • The King’s Speech
  • War Horse

Set Up / Location

Next, where are you having your night in? I like to cosy up my living room by dimming down the lights, lighting some scented candles and grabbing copious blankets and cushions to throw over myself. If you have a fireplace, I highly recommend turning it on for that added element of cosiness, it always makes me feel more relaxed!

Arguably the most important part of a night in is the food. Personally I like to order a huge takeout meal, usually my family and I will opt for a Chinese food delivery while my boyfriend will order himself Dominoes. Lots of options are key!
For after your main meal, I like to gather lots of little things to snack on throughout the movie. Bowls of crisps, little jars of sweets you know everyone will enjoy, ice-cream and chocolate, and microwaveable popcorn are always my go-tos.

The thing that makes your night in is your company! Who do you want to chill out and relax with? My perfect night in always consists of my parents and my boyfriend. Might sound a little lame to some, but there’s no better feelings than having some quality time with your family. Of course if you have a little furry friend like mine, they always make everything 100 times better.

What’s your ideal night in? Are you more of a staying in or going out person? Let me know!

The King’s Speech is one of my fave films, and I recently finished and loved The Crown, which is strange since I take zero interested in the royal family in real life! Also those snacks look so yum!
