What I’ve Read Recently!

Hey guys and welcome back to my blog! It’s been a while since we caught up reading wise, and there are a few amazing books I’ve read recently that I really can’t wait to share with you guys! So without further ado, let’s get into the books…..

A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas

Oh, my Rhysand. Was this book amazing or was it amazing?? To be honest, I didn’t think the first book could be improved upon, and I gave it a five-star rating on Goodreads. Then this book came along and it blew the first book so far out of the water that I wanted to give it SEVEN stars! I don’t know how Sarah J. Maas did what she did in this book and manage to win over the hearts of so many readers, but this book series is now my favourite of all time. I don’t want to give any spoilers, but I can tell you that it is a Hades and Persephone retelling and I think it captures that very well. I’m so excited for A Court of Wings and Ruin to come out on May 2nd and you can guarantee I will have a review up here.

All I can say is that if you love fantasy books packed with action, war, and romance, this is the trilogy for you.

The Mortal Instruments Series by Cassandra Clare

This is a book series I thoroughly enjoyed. The series consists of six books, City of Bones, City of Ashes, City of Glass, City of Fallen Angels, City of Lost Souls, and City of Heavenly Fire. I fell in love with the Shadowhunter world and the characters in this book. I feel like I strongly relate to Isabelle Lightwood because of some of the issues she goes through in the book, and yet she’s still such a strong sassy character! She’s an amazing inspiration.

I have heard that the Infernal Devices Trilogy is Cassandra’s best work, so I’m really excited to read them! I kind of wish I read these books when I was a few years younger, around 17 or 18, but I loved them none-the-less and would highly recommend.

You Are a Badass by Jen Sincero

This is actually a book I listened to on Audible. I normally listen to my motivational books on Audible because it means I can be getting inspired and listening to it while I’m doing other things, like in the gym, on public transport, or even while cleaning my house or getting ready in the morning. I loved this book because it was something different to what most motivational books are. It combined lots of information about the law of attraction and the universe with methods to reduce procrastination and overcome self-doubt. I loved it so much that I just ordered a physical copy of the book to re-read. This is one I would highly recommend.

The Magic by Rhonda Byrne

This book was such a huge eye opener for me. I have been interested in the Law of Attraction and practicing its teaching for about four months now, but nothing has ever actually manifested quickly for me until I came across The Magic. It’s such an incredible book and has changed the lives of so many people. I highly recommend reading it if you already know the basics of the Law of Attraction and want to start making real changes in your life. I noticed my overall happiness and enthusiasm for life was hugely increased following the gratitude and manifestation techniques that are taught in this book, especially in the areas of health and financial wealth.

Of Poseidon, Of Triton, Of Neptune by Anna Banks

To be honest, I wasn’t a huge fan of this trilogy. For a fantasy series, it felt very contemporary to me. The mythology wasn’t that accurate at all, and I really didn’t enjoy the writing style. It wasn’t necessarily a bad book either, because there’s nothing highly offensive or even that terrible about the plot. However in a world where we have stories that grip us and pull us into worlds that almost feel like home for us (cough Harry Potter cough), this book came up below par. All in all I would give it 2.5 stars as a series. And to be perfectly honest, I really wanted to read Six of Crows and Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo this month, but I feel like reading them before ACOWAR isn’t the best idea. I don’t want any kind of book hangover going into the finale of that trilogy!

What are you reading lately? Have you read any of the books on my list? Do you agree with me? Let me know in the comments!

I am OBSESSED with ACOMAF. Like actually though, high key obsessed! Haven’t read any of the others, though, unfortunately. Too many books, too little time!
