Good evening everyone and welcome back to Diaries of a Dramatic! For the month of July I’ll be trying something new on this blog and I will be posting every single day Monday-Friday. This is definitely going to be a challenge for me, but we’ll see how I get on by the end of it. I’ll also be posting one video a week (hopefully) on my YouTube channel so definitely head over there and click the subscribe button so that you never miss a video.
Today I thought I’d do the A-Z book tag so that you guys could find out what books I’ve been loving, any hidden gems I know, and what genres I just don’t enjoy. Without further ado, let’s get into the video.
QA. Author you’ve read the most books from?
AA. Probably Rick Riordan, I’ve read twelve of his books so far.
QB. Best sequel ever?
AB. This goes to A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas. I gave the first book, A Court of Thorns and Roses, 5 stars on Goodreads and then needed a higher rating for when I finished this incredible sequel. It was honestly the best sequel I have ever read.
QC. Currently reading?
AC. As I write this, I am currently reading Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare, Coming to Our Senses by Jon Kabat-Zinn, and re-reading Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire by J.K. Rowling. I can read anything from 3-8 books at a time.
QD. Drink of choice while reading?
AD. Honestly? It’s just water. I don’t drink much other than water.
QE. E-reader or physical book?
AE. Physical book every single time! I can’t read very well off a screen, probably because I get ocular migraines. Do any of you get ocular migraines? Let me know, they’re such a pain to deal with so it’s nice to hear you’re not alone!
QF. Fictional character you probably would have actually dated in high school?
AF. I would like to think that I would’ve dated a Simon Lewis from the Mortal Instruments series because he is just so cute and sweet. Definitely not my type as a whole but he definitely would have been back then.
QG. Glad you gave this book a chance?
AG. Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard: The Sword of Summer – I was a bit sceptical at first that this book has no Percy in it, but I ended up loving it!
QH. Hidden gem book?
AH. This one has to be Revolution by Jennifer Donnelly. I read this book about four years ago, it’s an adult fiction book following a girl from Brooklyn with mental health problems when she finds the diary of a young girl from the era of the French revolution. It’s a dual perspective book which can get confusing but personally I absolutely loved it.
QI. Important moment in your reading life?
AI. Definitely when I watched my first BookTube video! For those who don’t know, BookTube is a community of YouTubers who use the platform to talk about books. I make a lot of bookish videos on YouTube and I think the first book tube video I ever watched was an EmmmaBooks video! I had no idea the community existed before that and I have found so many incredible books because of it.
QJ. Just finished?
AJ. Magnus Chase and the Hammer of Thor from the Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard Series by Rick Riordan.
QK. Kinds of books you won’t read?
AK. Contemporary books. I just don’t like them! Especially the likes of John Green and Nicholas Sparks books. I find them very easy to read and like they lack something that excites me or mentally stimulates me. Feel free to disagree with me!
QL. Longest book you’ve read?
AL. The Complete Works of William Shakespeare at 1252 pages.
QM. Major book hangover because of?
AM. A Court of Wings and Ruin by Sarah J. Maas. It took me a really long time after finishing it to get into any other books.
QN. Number of bookcases you own?
AN. Currently, I own 5 bookcases personally. But around my house, there are approximately 7.
QO. One book you have read multiple times?
QP. Preferred place to read?
AP. My favourite place to read is either in my bed, curled up into a small pretzel shape and leaning slightly on my left side, or else on a big armchair with my feet curled under me, my knees on the arm of the chair and my book resting on them. I like to make myself small when I’m reading, clearly.
QQ. Quote that inspires you / gives you all the feels from a book you’ve read?
AQ. Right now it’s a simple one, from The Valiant by Lesley Livingston. “Are you a weapon or a target? Choose.”
QR. Reading regret?
AR. Taking such a big break from reading when I was doing my Leaving Cert (A-levels) and for the short period of time I was in Law School. But at least I’m back on the bandwagon now, and definitely making up for lost time.
QS. Series you started and need to finish (all the books are out in a series)?
QT. Three of your all-time favourite books?
QU. Unapologetic fangirl for?
AU. Shakespeare! Even when we had to study it in 5th year, I read all the major plays the summer before starting school. AND then I visited Shakespeare’s home in Stratford-Upon-Avon and did every tour I could.
QV. Very excited for this release more than all the others?
AV. The only one I can think of is One Dark Throne by Kendare Blake, which is of course the second book to her Three Dark Crowns book. I haven’t read the first and I’m already excited for the second. That’s weird, right?
QW. Worst bookish habit?
AW. Reading a few chapters ahead of the one I’m actually reading. I have NO IDEA why I do this!
QX. X marks the spot: Start at the top left of your shelf and pick the 27th book?
AX. This is Emma by Jane Austen.
QY. Your latest book purchase?
AY. My latest book purchase was Sea Spell by Jennifer Donnelly and is the final book in the Waterfire Saga. These were somewhat ‘guilty pleasure’ reads for me and I’m very excited to finish the series!
QZ. ZZZ-snatcher book (last book that kept you up WAY late).
AZ. A Court of Wings and Ruin!! I stayed up all night reading this one!
So that’s all for the A-Z book tag! What would you have answered instead? Let me know you’re thoughts!
